The Digitizing Olympics

Event Guidelines

The preliminary events for the Digitizing Olympics will be held on line at this web site. Preliminary events will be held November 2001 through July 2002, one preliminary event each month, until the finals in August 2002. Judging for the selected finalists will be held in July 2002, and the finals will then be coordinated and held at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville Tennessee August 2, 2002. Finalaists are invited to participate on site, however they can participate on line and monitor the event and judging via web cam through this web site if travel arrangements cannot be made.

Each event will provide the every day scenario that a Digitizer is challenged with:

Artwork will be made available at a specific time for each event. It is the Digitizer's responsibility to download, review and begin Digitizing according to the event schedule. All artwork is protected under copyrights owned by DigitizingOlympics.com

There will be a 3 business day deadline for the submission of completed designs. Late entries will result in a penalty. Submitted designs will then be made available for download by the registered judges as well as the embroidery public. Again, all artwork is protected under copyright to DigitizingOlympics.com. Designs may be used for personal use or sewn on garments for profit but a copy of the design file may not be sold or distributed in any way.

Judges will be allowed 5 business days to download, sew and review the designs submitted. An on line form will be available to submit thier final judgement and critique which will post in real time on this web site.

After the July 2002 judging, the embroidery public will be asked to review the results of the designs, and nominate thier choice of medalists to compete in the finals held in August 2002.

Finals August 2, 2002

8:30 am - Artwork will be distributed on line and on site and will reflect the theme of the 2002 EmbroideryOlympics being held at the same location. There will be one design per finalist, distributed randomly and containing design elements of one or more of the preluminary categories.

2:00 pm - Designs must be completed and submitted no later than 2:00pm, late entries will result in a loss of points. Coordinators will transfer the designs to disk and print color sequences for sewing and judging on site.

2:00 pm - 5:00 pm - Designs will be sewn, tested, reviewed and judged and the results compiled for posting to this site and presentation at the Awards Ceremony.
